Parks Coffee: Providing Great Customer Service Leads to Innovation (VIDEO)

Office coffee service company develops new system of sanitization and service

Carrollton, TX – New innovations in the office coffee service industry are typically born to overcome challenges in the field. Parks Coffee wanted to find a way to ensure that each pot of coffee was brewed into the best conditions, for optimal taste and quality. The Dallas-West Branch Manager, Larry Cox explains, “When route-men are out in the accounts, and they’re trying to clean [coffee pots] in the sink; they’re making noise, they’re splashing water. They can break the pots.” Faced with the obstacle of quickly providing cleaner pots to their customers, without risk of creating more mess or breakage on location, led the Parks Coffee team to brainstorm new solutions.

The answer came in the form of a new cleaning process, called the Fresh Pot Program (FPP).  This unique method calls for route-men to return each air-pot and glasspot/carafe to the Parks Coffee headquarters for a restaurant-style cleaning and sanitization cycle.  Once the pots have been thoroughly cleaned and air-dried, each is hermetically-sealed in a heated oven to protect against dust and germs, and ready to be sent back into the field. “It’s something that’s unique to the industry. We are the first company to accomplish that,” says President Randy Parks.

In a new video released today, Parks Coffee showcases their unique methods of servicing and satisfying clients’ needs and wants. This video, entitled “The Parks Coffee Difference” was created to highlight new ways the Parks Coffee company has created to ensure each client receives the “White Glove Service” standard of care. “We’ve been obsessed with customer service since we’ve started,” Randy says. “It’s a continual journey, as we get better and better with our customer service.”

Parks Coffee’s New “Crowd Pleaser” Packaging Offers Variety and Guaranteed Freshness

Office coffee service company has fresh design and thoughtful angle on fraction pack line-up.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) October 22, 2013 — Since its inception in 1986, Parks Coffee has consistently pushed the envelope on traditional industry practices. The office coffee and refreshments company began roasting its own coffees in 2004, and was one of the first to expand their vending offering with micro-market technology. The new Crowd Pleaser set-up is no less extraordinary. In a new 5-minute video entitled “Crowd Pleasing Coffees,” this innovative system is highlighted in real-world situations.

“Most of our competitors offer only large, bulk, 40-count cases of product. Hidden beneath the customers’ counters, these cases can take a month to be used up. That’s a whole month of drinking the same coffee, each and every day. So we had the idea to make the boxes smaller, keep the product fresher, give the box a bit of personality and bring it up to the countertop,” explains Parks Coffee Marketing Manager, Beth Seeber.

These small-footprint boxes not only add visibility to the coffees, but also give Parks Coffee customers the option to stock many kinds of coffee at once and offer their employees freedom of choice with each brew. To help the customer select the coffees that would work best in their environment, each blend and roast in the Parks Coffee arsenal is assigned to a tier or category, each made with 100% Arabica coffee.

CrowdPleaser_lineupFor straightforward, hard-working coffees, reach for the Crafted Coffee line, which includes Sunny Side Up® Breakfast Blend and Parks House Blend. The Artisan Blends line is skillfully blended by hand and includes Papa’s Prime Roast, French Café, and One Fritter Quitter®. All single-origin coffees, such as Sweet Maria’s® Colombian Supremo, All Nighter (Guatemala Antiqua), Tall, Dark & Colombian, Molten Lava Java (Sumatran), and Lei It On Me (10% Kona Blend) are found in the Exotic & Single Origin line. The Decaf line has the same great taste and full-bodied quality, with less caffeine, available in Sunny Side Up® Breakfast Blend Decaf, Sweet Maria’s® Colombian Supremo Decaf, and Tall, Dark & Colombian Decaf. All coffees in the Flavored Collection are indulgent and rich in flavor, with no added calories, and include Southern Belle Pecan®, Nutty Aunt Hazel®, Eiffel Power®, and Caramanilla Cream®. Limited edition items in the Seasonal Coffees line are crafted to honor the spirit of each season, from French Toast (winter), Gimme S’More (spring), Jamaica Me Crazy (summer), Pumpkin Pie (fall) and Cookie-Doodle (holiday).

The launch of the Crowd Pleaser set-up is well under way, and available to all new and current Parks Coffee customers. Branding Manager Clay Parks says, “Crowd Pleaser is a way that we can have fun with the coffees that we love to roast, but our hope is that we get to broaden the coffee experience in each of our accounts.”

Rust Fungus Affecting Coffee Crops in Latin America

The International Coffee Organization (ICO) is reporting that over 50% of coffee plantations in Central and South America have been devastated by a coffee rust fungus, also called La Roya. While U.S. coffee prices have not yet been affected by this crop killer, we can expect to see a jump in green bean pricing in 2014.  According to the ICO, an estimated $500 million in product has been destroyed by La Roya so far this year.

Coffee rust is caused by the fungus Hemileia vasatrix, which causes powdery yellow-orange spots on the leaves of the plant. These leaf spots eventually turn brown and infected leaves fall off of the plant prematurely, which in turn weakens and may eventually kill the coffee plant.

A single rust postule on a leaf may contain as many as 150,000 spores.  These powdery spores are easily spread on wind and splashing water, making even one infected plant a danger to the coffee farm or finca agronomic and economic health.

Roasting Coffee is Second Nature to Parks Coffee Team

Office coffee service company has been serving up fresh roasted coffees every day since 1986

Premier office coffee service company Parks Coffee (Parks & Co / ProStar Services) has long offered its customers coffee selections from numerous name brands, like Starbucks, Folgers and Green Mountain Coffee.  And in 2005, this family-owned and -operated business began sourcing, roasting and blending its own coffees. “We felt like we needed to be able to offer our customers more selection, and a fresher product,” says Founder and President Randy Parks.

In its new three minute video entitled “Parks Coffee – Roasted Fresh Every Day”, the Parks Coffee roasting and procurement team show their hands-on approach to meeting the tastes and needs of their customers. Service Director Bryan Reasor leads the charge in sourcing green (raw) coffee beans, “If we sell our House Blend coffee one month, we want it to taste the same the next month. So, there’s a lot of processes and a lot of care that goes into providing that.” Randy adds, “We sample those coffees; we do some cuppings. We ensure our quality for our whole system, that we get only the very highest grade beans available to us.”

Each shipment of 100% Arabica green coffee beans received is checked for defaults and cupped or tasted before roasting in a larger batch, to ensure a quality end product. “If we can touch it as much as possible when it gets here, we can guarantee that it’s going to be good, “ says Branding Manager Clay Parks. “Being a family roaster is a great place to be because you take more care. You care about the product because it has your name, and you want to be proud of what’s behind it, but also too, you know that you’re solely responsible for the customer experience at the end. I think we do a great job with that.”

PARKS & Co. TEA – Client Rebate Program

It’s lunchtime, and you’re ready to enjoy a cup of icy and deliciously refreshing PARKS & Co.TEA. You step up to the counter, mouth watering, taste buds ready. Placing your new tumbler onto the drip tray, you pull the spigot handle, and see only water coming into your cup – bummer! Looks like it’s time to change out the BIB (Bag-In-Box), to keep the sweet tea a-flowing!

Don’t be intimidated!  Changing out a tea BIB is actually pretty simple, and you can do it in 30 seconds (or less).  Here’s how:

Step 1) Remove the spent BIB from inside the dispenser, and unscrew it from the line.

Step 2) Select your new tea BIB flavor, removing it from the outer box. Pull off the cap from the inlet valve on the bag.

Step 3) Reconnect the line to the new BIB inlet valve. Remove the flavor label sticker from outer box and place it on the dispenser over the correct spigot.  Now everyone can see what the new flavor will be.

Step 4) Lay the BIB in dispenser and replace the lid.

Bask in the applause of your co-workers, because you have just saved the day, using nothing but your own two hands.  Being a hero has never been so easy.

To reward your heroism, we are offering the Parks Tea Client Rebate Program. You can earn a free $10 gift card to the restaurant of your choice, for every five BIB teas you change out. The counts are not accumulative, so to qualify you must change out five purchased BIBs between service visits.  Your Parks Coffee routeman will verify the count with you and your PAR inventory levels.

Restaurant options: Chili’s, Olive Garden, or Macaroni Grill. Rebate program ends July 31, 2013. Terms and conditions apply.
